The Islamabad Bar Council is pleased to announce that, a sub-Committee of the intra-provincial bar councils led by Mr. Ahmad Farooq khattak, Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mr. Adil Aziz Qazi, Vice chairman Islamabad Bar Council, Mr. Qasim Ali Gajizai, Vice Chairman Baluchistan Bar Council, Mr. Abdul Razzaq, Member Sindh Bar Council and Pir Imran Akram Bodla, Chairman Executive Committee, Punjab Bar Council, had a productive meeting today with the esteemed Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Mr. Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, Chairman Standing Committee Interior ,Mr. Saad Rafique, and Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, was also present in the meeting. The primary focus of the discussion was on Article 175-A and Article 209 of the Constitution of Pakistan and the potential amendments to this crucial legal provision.
During the meeting, the sub-committee emphasized the importance of ensuring that any amendments to Article 175-A are both rational and commendable. The members of the bar council stressed that the proposed changes should enhance the effectiveness of the judicial system while maintaining the core principles of justice and fairness. They also advocated for increase in strength of judges of High Courts and the Supreme Court to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the judicial system.
The Speaker of the National Assembly assured the sub-committee that their concerns and suggestions would be given due consideration as the legislative process moves forward. The Islamabad Bar Council looks forward to continued dialogue and collaboration to ensure that any amendments to Article 175-A are made in a manner that upholds the integrity of the judicial system.
